FAQ
How are categories set?
Below 18.5 is underweight, 18.5 to under 25 normal, 25 to under 30 overweight, and 30 or above obese. These are the general adult cut-offs.
Is it accurate for everyone?
No. BMI cannot tell muscle from fat, so athletes may score high, and the same cut-offs do not apply to children or pregnancy.
Can I enter height in metres?
No, use centimetres. Entering 1.72 gives a wildly wrong result.
