How to Build a Strong LinkedIn Profile That Gets You Job Offers

⏱ 5 min read · September 30, 2026

Most recruiters search for candidates on LinkedIn, and many open your profile before contacting you. A strong profile can bring offers without you even applying.

1. A professional photo and banner

A clear headshot with a simple background, suitable clothes and a smile. Profiles with photos get far more views. Add a banner related to your field.

2. The headline: your most important line

Do not just write "Student" or "Looking for a job". Use your title, field and keywords:

3. The About section

3–5 lines in first person: who you are, what you do well, a key achievement and what you are looking for. Start from your CV summary and make it more personal.

4. Experience and education

Copy your experience from your CV with the same achievements and numbers, and add internships and volunteering. Keep titles and dates identical to your CV; recruiters compare.

5. Skills and recommendations

Add up to 50 skills and pin your top 3. Ask colleagues or a former manager for a recommendation; it makes a real difference.

6. Turn on Open to Work

Select Open to work and set your target titles and locations. You can make it visible to recruiters only.

7. Customize your URL

Change your profile URL in settings to something like linkedin.com/in/ahmed-hassan and add it to your CV.

8. Stay active

Connect with people in your field and with recruiters at companies you like, leave useful comments, and post now and then about something you learned or a certificate you earned.
