FAQ

Will the image look sharper?

No. Converting cannot bring back detail JPG already discarded; it just stops further compression.

Why is the file bigger?

PNG does not compress photos the way JPG does, so photographic images get noticeably larger. That is expected.

Will the background become transparent?

No. JPG never had transparency, so the background stays. Use the background remover if you need it gone.
