Timeline
Use this templateWhat to include
Name, mobile with the +216 code, email and city (Tunis, Sfax, Sousse...). Add LinkedIn or GitHub if you work in IT.
Two lines on your specialism and target role. Avoid generic lines that fit anyone.
Diploma (Licence, Mastère, engineering diploma), institution and year. Prépa and the baccalaureate can be mentioned briefly.
Project title, host company, duration and the tools or technologies used. For graduates this is often the most important block.
Summer internships (stage d'été) and jobs, most recent first, with clear tasks and results.
Languages, tools and software you really use, grouped clearly.
Arabic, French, English and German or Italian if you have them, with level or certificate (DELF, TOEIC, Goethe...).
What to leave off
- National ID card number — Not needed on a CV.
- Long skill lists with no levels — Focus on what you can discuss in an interview.
- A one-line PFE — Give the topic and tools.
- French mistakes — They create a poor first impression fast.
- An informal email address — Use one based on your name.
ATS and CVs in Tunisia
In Tunisia, IT services firms, offshoring operators and European groups with sites in Tunis, Sfax and Sousse receive many applications, so many use a recruitment portal or ATS, and screening is sometimes done from France or Germany. Small and medium-sized firms usually read CVs by hand.
- Use a single-column template such as Executive or Timeline, especially for online applications.
- Use standard French headings: Formation, Expériences, Projets, Compétences, Langues.
- Name technologies exactly as in the ad (Java, Spring Boot, Power BI, AutoCAD) when you genuinely know them.
- Give the PFE its own clear section listing the tools, so keywords are picked up.
- Send a PDF unless the ad asks for Word.
- Compare your CV with the ad using the job matcher.

Examples by job
Applying for jobs in Tunisia
Where to look for work in Tunisia:
- Tanitjobs: one of the best-known Tunisian job boards across many sectors.
- LinkedIn: essential for IT engineers and European or international firms.
- ANETI: the national employment agency, useful for graduates and public programmes.
- Company career pages and recruitment days at universities and engineering schools.
Sectors such as IT services, automotive and aerospace components and call centres hire heavily, often with a technical or language test. The PFE frequently leads to a job at the host company, so choose it carefully. Many Tunisian engineers are also recruited for jobs in Europe through local agencies and firms, so keep your LinkedIn profile consistent with your CV. Employers often ask about your notice period and availability. Public-sector jobs are usually filled through competitive exams with their own conditions. Foreign nationals generally need a work authorisation obtained through official procedures with the employer; check government sources. If you are thinking of moving abroad, see our Germany guide.
CV language
French is the main CV language in Tunisia for most companies, banks and industry. English is increasingly requested in IT and at firms serving international clients, some of which ask for an English CV from the start. Public administrations and competitive exams (concours) have their own files, which may be in Arabic. German employers may ask for a German CV.
Our builder outputs French or English only (not German or Arabic) and is preset to French for Tunisia. You can type in Arabic and it translates; for an Arabic copy, use the CV translator.
CV or resume?
Tunisians say CV, and the format is close to the French CV: education matters and projects and internships have a clear place. "Resume" appears only with American companies or international platforms; in that case, drop the photo and personal details and keep it shorter. Academic CVs for researchers and lecturers are longer and list publications, teaching, supervision and conferences.
Cover letters in Tunisia
A cover letter (lettre de motivation) is common in Tunisia, especially for PFE and internship applications, graduate roles and unsolicited applications. Some companies are happy with the CV alone on their portal. Keep it to one page in French, focused on the company and the role rather than repeating your CV. Our cover letter generator writes in English or Arabic, so translate and carefully review the draft if you need French.
FAQ
Should my CV for Tunisia be in French or English?
French in most cases. Use English if the ad is in English or the company is international, especially in IT.
Should I add a photo?
Photos are common with Tunisian employers. For large European or American companies you can leave it out.
How do I present my PFE?
As its own section with title, company, duration, key tasks, technologies and outcome, in two to four lines.
Should I mention prépa and the baccalaureate?
Prépa is valued, so mention it briefly. The baccalaureate is fine for recent graduates and can be dropped after a few years of experience.
How long should the CV be?
One page for graduates, two pages at most for experienced candidates.
Is a cover letter required?
Often for internships, PFE and unsolicited applications. Some portals only want the CV.
Can the builder produce a German CV for German companies?
No, it outputs French or English only. Many German firms in Tunisia accept English or French, but check the ad.
Is the CV builder free?
Yes, free with no sign-up, with PDF and Word downloads.
